Zhivko Mukaetov, CEO and president of managing board of alkaloid ad Skopje receives award for European contribution for 2009

The European Movement of the Republic of Macedonia gave the Award for European Contribution for 2009 to Mr Zhivko Mukaetov, the CEO and President of the Managing Board of Alkaloid AD Skopje, for his special merits for the promotion of the Republic of Macedonia, its economy and culture in Europe, as well as for furthering the European ideas and values.

The award was handed to Mr Mukaetov at the ceremonial academy held in Skopje, in honour of 9th May, the Day of Europe and the 50th Anniversary of Schumann Declaration. Beside the members of the European Movement, the academy was attended by His Excellency, Mr Erwan Fouere, the EU Ambassador to Macedonia, Mr Vasko Naumovski, the vice-president of the government of Macedonia, in charge of European affairs, representatives of the diplomatic corps as well as other guests, supporters of the European idea and values.

This is the first time that the Award for European Contribution has been received by a person from the economic sector, a businessman - the leader of one of the most successful Macedonian companies, a brand established and confirmed not only in the region, but broader, as well. As the head of Alkaloid AD, a company present also on the EU and US markets, Mr Mukaetov, it has been emphasised, undoubtedly promotes the Republic of Macedonia, its economy and culture; he shows that Macedonia has successful people, successful companies which can cope with the challenges of the global economy and continue on the road to success even in crisis.


To date, the Award for European Contribution has been given to Tose Proeski, Boris Trajanov, Vlatko Stefanovski and maestro Simon Trpcevski.

"This award has been an exceptional honour, not only for myself and my family, but also for the employees of Alkaloid, a company which has already been present in Europe", said Mukaetov, expressing his gratitude for this acknowledgement. He stressed the significance that such an award has been given to a person from the business sector, expressing a hope that in the future, there will be a growing number of business people who will put into practice the European values on their road to Europe, in Europe, in which Macedonia will celebrate 9th May as a member-state.
