Trajce Mukaetov foundation grants new scholarships

In line with the tradition, this year ‘Trajche Mukaetov’ Foundation also grants 35 new scholarships for the academic year 2016/2017: 15 scholarships for students of the Pharmaceutical Faculty and 20 for students of the Medical Faculty at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje.

In accordance with the announced public competition, the selection of scholarship holders for the academic year 2016/2017 has been adopted by the Managing Board of the Foundation, following the preliminary list proposed by the Scholarship Commissions. The Commissions are composed of representatives from the Foundation, both faculties and the students.

The scholarship in the amount of MKD 6,500/month is received for a period of one year. The names of the scholarship holders will be published in the printed media, and the Executive Office of the Foundation will contact them for signing the scholarship agreements.

In line with the programme policies for endorsing young and ambitious cadre who have devoted their careers to the Macedonian healthcare and pharmacy, starting from the academic year 2009/2010, Trajche Mukaetov Foundation has also granted one-off pecuniary awards for the best in a generation students of Medicine and Pharmacy in the amount of EUR 1,200 paid in the national currency equivalent. This year, the one-off pecuniary awards shall be granted to Nikola Jovanovic from the Pharmaceutical Faculty, whose average grade was 9.93 and Marko Kostovski from the Medical Faculty, with average grade of 9.97. Nikola Jovanovic from the Pharmaceutical Faculty is a holder of ‘Trajche Mukaetov’ Foundation scholarship.

Since the academic year 2007/2008, the Foundation has provided scholarships for a total of 379 students of Pharmacy and Medicine, including the new 35 ones for the academic year 2016/2017. A total of 250 of them - 142 students of Pharmacy and 108 students of Medicine have already graduated. If the students meet the terms stipulated in the agreement, they will continue to receive the scholarship in the next academic year. Since 2009 to date, 40 scholarship holders have started their careers in Alkaloid, in the Pharmaceuticals segment.

‘Trajche Mukaetov’ Foundation was established by a Decision taken by the Managing Board of Alkaloid AD Skopje. The Foundation, whose founder is the Company, is intended for granting scholarships, donations and funds for talented doctors and pharmacists, as well as providing financial support for projects related to these fields.

The projects accomplished to date have confirmed the commitments of the Foundation to endorse pharmacy, medicine and science, primarily through endorsing young, ambitious cadre who have devoted their careers to these lines of work.

The Foundation was established in honour of Trajche Mukaetov, who took the helm of Alkaloid AD Skopje in 1985. His term of office was marked by intensified growth and development of the organization into a leading pharmaceutical company in the region. In the light of his dedication to permanent development, this great strategist and visionary believed that an important parameter is the increased level of investments in scientific, research and developmental activities, investments he deemed indispensable for achieving the desired prosperity.
