TWO GENERATIONS, ONE SHARED PROFESSIONAL LEGACY AT ALKALOID
Elefterija Davcheva and Tane Murgoski, mother and son, are part of Alkaloid and belong to different generations that have shaped their professional careers within the company. Their experiences speak to the dedication and values passed down through generations, as well as the quiet connection between personal and professional life that develops over time.

Elefterija Davcheva
Elefterija Davcheva:
“Alkaloid is not just a workplace, but a place that connects generations and creates lasting values.”
How do you view your professional development at Alkaloid over the years, and which factors have been key to your long-term commitment?
My parents also worked at Alkaloid – my father, Gjorgji, who retired in the early 1990s, and my mother, Fanka, who remained with the company until 1999, when I began my professional career. When I first joined Alkaloid, I could not have imagined that I was embarking on a long, stable, and dynamic professional journey. Before that, I worked at the State Statistical Office, where I gained practical experience that proved highly valuable in the Finance Sector, my first professional assignment within the company. Over the years, my professional path evolved alongside the company's own growth. Alkaloid was not just a workplace, but an environment in which I matured both professionally and personally. Every new challenge was an opportunity to learn, and every change opened the door to new knowledge and opportunities for growth. A sense of security, continuous investment in employee development, and a culture that recognizes and values effort and results have been the foundation of my long-term commitment to the company.
What is it like to work at the same company as your son, and how has this shaped your perspective as a mother?
Working at the same company as your own child is a truly special feeling. Over time, I have learned to draw a clear line between my role as a mother and my role as a colleague. I try to offer support when needed, but never to influence his professional decisions. My greatest satisfaction is seeing him earn his place in the company through his own knowledge, dedication, and hard work. I believe that everyone should follow their own path, and it is a privilege to witness that journey firsthand.
Do you ever give each other professional advice, and how different are your approaches to work?
Of course, conversations about work are inevitable, but we always make sure they remain within the bounds of well-intentioned advice and an open exchange of perspectives. My experience has taught me patience, a systematic approach, and careful decision-making, while he brings fresh ideas, a different perspective, and adapts more easily to new and modern ways of working. That is precisely why our conversations are interesting and valuable: we complement each other, exchange experiences, and often learn from one another. I believe that when there is mutual respect, different intergenerational approaches are not an obstacle, but an advantage.
Which values from your home life have been most strongly carried over into your professional environment?
Honesty, responsibility, respect for work, and loyalty have always been valued in our family. These are the values I grew up with and naturally carried into my professional life. At home, we would often say, “I will not compromise my integrity.” It was not merely an expression, but a guiding principle: always work honestly and responsibly, and stand behind your actions. Those same values have guided me at Alkaloid throughout all these years. “A sense of security, continuous investment in employee development, and a culture that recognizes and values effort and results have been the foundation of my long-term commitment to the company.”
What does it mean to you to see your child carve out his own path in the same company to which you have dedicated much of your professional life?
It is a feeling that is difficult to put into words. There is a special sense of pride in seeing your child choose to forge his professional path in the same company where you yourself have spent 27 years of your professional career. It means even more to me that this is his personal choice and that he recognized in Alkaloid the same values that have kept me here all these years. It is the most beautiful confirmation that Alkaloid is not just a workplace, but a place that connects generations and creates lasting values.
Tane Murgoski
Tane Murgoski:
“Alkaloid has given me the opportunity to learn, grow, and find my place, while respecting the family legacy and forging my own path.”
How do you view your professional growth in an environment where a well-established family legacy precedes you?
Starting a career at a company with such deep family roots, where my mother works and where both my grandparents also worked, is both an honor and a responsibility. From the very beginning, I was aware that I was part of a story that did not begin with me. At the same time, it inspired me to prove myself independently and establish my own professional identity. Alkaloid has given me the opportunity to learn, grow, and find my place, while respecting legacy and forging my own path.
Which values or principles acquired within your family have had the greatest influence on your approach to work?
Above all, my family instilled in me a sense of responsibility, a strong work ethic, and respect for the collective. I was taught that nothing is achieved overnight and that trust is built through consistency and honest work. These principles directly shape my approach at Alkaloid: to be dedicated, fair, and always ready to learn and contribute.

BETWEEN TRADITION AND ONE'S OWN JOURNEY
Sometimes, a professional path extends beyond the workplace and naturally becomes intertwined with personal and family life. This is how stories emerge in which a sense of belonging, values, and experience are passed down from one generation to the next. For Maja Gjurovska and Kristijan Gjurovski, Alkaloid is not simply a company, but an integral part of their everyday lives and family identity.
