Alkaloid AD in competition with the best companies in the world on the chessboard

From 19th to 21st of February, the World Chess Federation will organize the "1st FIDE Online World Corporate Chess Championship 2021" which will be played online, with a time pace for each game of 10 minutes for each player and an additional 2 seconds for each move. Corporations from all over the world have the right to participate, and each team will be composed of employees from companies with the participation of one external member in order to strengthen the teams and raise the level of quality of the game.

288 teams from all continents have registered for the championship and the most famous and top world companies from different branches such as: Amazon, Socar, Vodafone, Siemens, IBM, Eli Lilly will take part; IT companies such as: Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Yandex, Kaspersky, LinkedIn, Oracle; banking, auditing and financial institutions: Sber Bank, Morgan Stanley, Grenke Bank, American Express, European Investment Bank, Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse, Societe Generale, Deutsche Bank, Czech National Bank, Bank of Russia, Paypal, European Patent Office The Hague , Ernst & Young, Deloitte, KPMG, etc.

As a proof of the high level of this championship is the interest for participation which was confirmed by big world names from the world of chess, such as the world champion Magnus Carlsen, the European champion for 2019 Vladislav Artemiev (Russia), then Jan Nepomniachtchi (Russia), Anish Giri (Netherlands), as well as former world champions Antoaneta Stefanova (Bulgaria) and Mariya Muzychuk (Ukraine).

The team of ALKALOID AD will be represented by: IM Dejan Stojanovski (external member, from CC Alkaloid), and employees in the company: IM Filip Pancevski, IM Nikola Dimovski, ZFM Monika Stojkovska, and ZFM Lidija Sofrevska Andonova.

The Chess Club "Alkaloid" was established in 1976, after the end of the then traditional and very strong international chess tournament "Meeting of Solidarity" which was held in Skopje organized by the Chess Union of Macedonia. The participants of the tournament were received on an official visit to "Alkaloid", after which the then world champion Anatoly Karpov played a simultaneous game with employees of the company.

"Alkaloid" continuously supports the chess game. The company's chess club was the European Champion for 2016, European Vice Champion for 2017 and shared the continental title in 2018 and 2019 in third and fourth place, respectively.
