US Embassy Representatives Pay Official Working Visit to Alkaloid
A diplomatic delegation from the Embassy of the United States of America in Skopje, led by Ms. Nicole Varnes, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., and accompanied by Mr. Barnabas Birkeland, Economic Counsellor, visited Alkaloid AD Skopje for an official working meeting. Mr. Zhivko Mukaetov, CEO and President of the Management Board, welcomed the delegation.

During the meeting, the delegation gained deeper insight into Alkaloid’s development journey and modern business operations, its financial and manufacturing performance, and key strategic priorities. These include the company’s export-oriented approach, capital investments, commitment to education and professional development, and the integration of ESG standards into its operations. The programme also included visits to the Alkaloid Museum, the Pharmaceuticals Profit Centre manufacturing facilities, and the Research and Development Institute.

Particular emphasis was placed on Alkaloid’s business activities in the United States and its cooperation with American partners. Alkaloid has maintained a presence in the US market through its subsidiary in New Albany, Ohio, for 21 years. In addition to marketing Good Nature herbal teas and Becutan baby care products, the company has established various forms of cooperation with renowned US pharmaceutical companies, including licensed manufacturing, marketing representation, and distribution authorizations for their products.

Cooperation with leading US companies in the pharmaceutical sector, including Medtronic and MSD, as well as with multinational American brands in the herbal products segment, is of particular importance to Alkaloid. The US market, characterized by its scale, intense competition, stringent regulatory requirements, and high standards of quality and compliance, represents a key segment in the company’s efforts to further expand its international presence.

The visit provided another opportunity to strengthen business ties and deepen cooperation with American partners, while paving the way for new opportunities for Alkaloid’s continued growth and the expansion of its international reach.
