As part of the U.S. Government’s broader regional agenda to stimulate investment and strengthen strategic ties between American capital and leading companies in the Western Balkans, a high-level delegation comprising representatives of the U.S. Government, partner organizations, and institutions paid a working visit to Alkaloid AD Skopje.

Anthony Randazzo, Managing Director at the Office of Healthcare and Agribusiness at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), together with representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Skopje – Barnabas Birkeland, Economic Officer, Economy Department Head, and Rozita Mrenoshki, Political-Economic Assistant, as well as Jelena Arsovska, Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in RNM – toured the company’s production facilities, the Research and Development Institute, and the Alkaloid Museum during their visit to Alkaloid AD Skopje.

The delegation was hosted by the Chief Executive Officer and MB President of Alkaloid, Zhivko Mukaetov, who highlighted that the company has maintained strong cooperation with leading U.S. pharmaceutical companies for over 60 years. Since the early 2000s, Alkaloid has also built partnerships with multinational U.S. brands such as Aveda, Arbonne International, and Swanson, supplying them with premium botanical products.

“The visit by the U.S. delegation is a significant acknowledgment of Alkaloid’s quality and competitiveness, as well as our sustained commitment to developing new business partnerships. Our ongoing collaboration with prominent American companies, including Medtronic, MSD, and others in the pharmaceutical sector, as well as partnerships with multinational U.S. brands in the botanicals segment, is of particular importance to Alkaloid, given that this is an exceptionally large and competitive market characterized by strict regulatory frameworks and high standards in terms of quality and full compliance with regulatory requirements,” Mukaetov emphasized.

The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) is a development finance institution of the U.S. Government, with a lending capacity of USD 205 billion and a portfolio exceeding USD 40 billion across more than 100 developing markets, including USD 8.4 billion in active exposure in Europe and Central Asia.
