Humanity and solidarity have always been at the heart of Alkaloid’s values. In September 2011, as part of the company’s 75th anniversary celebrations, these values took on a new form with the launch of a corporate humanitarian initiative that brought together Alkaloid employees, their family members, and friends. Over the years, the initiative has grown into an established humanitarian tradition, interrupted only temporarily during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since the first Humanitarian Picnic, nearly MKD 14 million has been raised in support of healthcare institutions, humanitarian and civil society organizations, children, people with rare diseases, vulnerable groups, and the elderly, as well as environmental protection initiatives. All donations to date have been made through the Trajche Mukaetov Foundation, established by Alkaloid in 2007.

This year, the 12th edition raised nearly MKD 2.2 million, which will be donated to the University Clinic for Respiratory Diseases in Children “Kozle” for the purchase of a modern bronchoscopy system with a fiberoptic bronchoscope.

“We are deeply grateful to Alkaloid for once again recognizing the importance of investing in health and creating better conditions for the treatment of our youngest patients. This support is a meaningful example of social responsibility, creating tangible and lasting value for the community,” said Prof. Dr Katerina Boshkovska, Director of the PHI University Clinic for Respiratory Diseases in Children “Kozle”.

This specialized medical equipment enables direct and precise examination of the airways using a thin, flexible instrument with an optical system. It is used for the timely diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases in children, and can also be used in emergency situations caused by foreign bodies inhaled into the airways.

Reflecting on the significance of this long-standing tradition and the people who have kept it alive over the years, Mr. Zhivko Mukaetov, Alkaloid’s CEO and MB President and President of the Trajche Mukaetov Foundation, said:

This year, the values of humanity, care, and togetherness were also were also brought to life through the traditional T-shirts worn at the Humanitarian Picnic. The “Alkaloid House” motif, created by Macedonian artist Satja Grabul to mark Alkaloid’s 90th anniversary, captures the ideas of belonging, closeness, and solidarity – values that lie at the heart of the large Alkaloid family.
