Caraway seeds (Carvum carvi) is actually a fruit with a sweet and bitter taste, and is one of the oldest spices. 

It is most commonly used in pastries, but it is also used in desserts, soups and salads, in combination with apple, cabbage, onion, tomato, pork and chicken, etc. It can be combined with other spices such as garlic, parsley, thyme, and coriander.
