Preservative or sodium benzoate is an additive commonly used in households for preserving vegetables and fruits, as well as their products. This additive is used to prevent the growth of bacteria, mold and yeast, to maintain the freshness of the product and to prevent changes of the color, taste or texture.
The amount in the bag is sufficient for canning 2.5 kg of fruits and vegetables in vinegar, oil or salt; 10 kg of jam or marmalade or 25L of juice.
