
The potassium metabisulphite is an additive that is commonly used in households for wine preparation, but also for canning various types of vegetables and fruits. It acts as a preservative, antioxidant and bleaching agent, by releasing sulfur dioxide when dissolved in water. Therefore, it is added in the process of wine production, the released sulfur dioxide acts against microorganisms (primarily yeasts and bacteria) and provides safe and quality wine and retains its taste and aroma. When preserving vegetables and fruits, it provides a stable taste and aroma, and color retention.
The amount in the bag is enough to preserve 50 kg of fruits and vegetables in vinegar, oil or salt; 100 kg of jam, jelly or marmalade or 100 L of juice.
