Alkaloid Signs New Memorandum of Cooperation with Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje on Internship Program

Alkaloid has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with "Ss. Cyril and Methodius” University in Skopje (UKIM) to provide students with opportunities to gain practical skills and further their professional development under the mentorship of top professionals in various fields. The Memorandum is a part of the internship development program. The purpose of formalizing the existing partnership, which involved the company's cooperation with four UKIM faculties, is to broaden the scope of educational profiles that can serve as student interns representing the country's future workforce.

The company CEO and MB President, Zhivko Mukaetov, and the University Rector, Prof. Dr Nikola Jankulovski, signed the Memorandum. Nikola Eftimov, head of Alkaloid's Human Resources Department, and Prof. Dr Jasmina Tonic-Ribarska, head of UKIM's Career Centre, lead the working group consisting of representatives from both institutions.

"As a socially responsible company, we are committed to providing opportunities for students to gain practical knowledge and skills under the mentorship of our experienced professionals across various segments of Alkaloid's operations. We aim to create a strong synergy between the education and business sectors and elevate scientific research. Through our internship development program, we welcome students from multiple UKIM faculties to participate in our company's daily processes and develop their professional potential by observing our high professional standards," said Alkaloid's CEO and MB President, Zhivko Mukaetov.

UKIM's Rector, Prof. Dr Nikola Jankulovski, thanked Alkaloid for its ongoing commitment to enhancing the qualifications of students whose educational backgrounds match the company's personnel structure. "This partnership provides students with practical experience that will be invaluable as they prepare for their careers. We believe that this collaboration with Alkaloid will meet our students' and the company's needs," said Prof. Dr Jankulovski.

Prof. Dr Jasmina Tonic Ribarska, head of UKIM's Career Centre, emphasized the importance of practical experience vis-à-vis labour market demands: "By signing this cooperation agreement with Alkaloid, one of the best pharmaceutical companies in Southeast Europe, we will provide our students with an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience and learn from industry professionals. Through this cooperation, we expect our students to gain useful experience. Of course, we will continue to invest in the quality of our graduates and create a staff that meets the labour market expectations."

Alkaloid will be offering internships to students of UKIM faculties with which it has already been cooperating, such as the Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, the Chemistry Institute within the Faculty of Natural and Mathematical Sciences, as well as to students at other UKIM faculties such as the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies, Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, and others. These internships will take place at Alkaloid and provide students with practical experience in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, botanical, and chemical industries.

This year, the young talents program expects its sixth class of interns. To date, 205 interns have participated, with 94 ending up employed with Alkaloid. The cooperation in the internship program between Alkaloid and UKIM began in April 2018. The first class of internships, which included two faculties, was completed in September 2018.
