A delegation from the Embassy of Japan in Skopje, headed by His Excellency Ambassador Sawada Hironori, paid a working visit to Alkaloid AD Skopje. During the visit, hosted by the CEO and President of the Management Board, Mr. Zhivko Mukaetov, the delegation had the opportunity to learn about the company’s operation, its financial performance, business activities, as well as is its range of products and production capacities. During the presentation, accent was put on the numerous investments and projects continuously realized by Alkaloid, as well as the company’s focus and commitment to export policy and the large number of projects and commitments in the field of social responsibility.

Alkaloid’s collaboration with the Japanese giant Fuji dates back to 1978 when the company was one of the largest importers of x-ray films in the country. Today, applying latest discoveries and modern Japanese practices, Alkaloid’s program Botanicals is certified in accordance with Japan’s standard of organic production. Alkaloid employees have strengthened their skills and competencies with the participation in various educational programs in AOTS training centers in Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo, organized by the Japanese Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS). The Embassy of Japan in Skopje is a strong supporter of Macedonian healthcare that has given numerous donations and grants to several healthcare institutions in the country.

Following the official part of the visit, during the tour of the production facilities in the Pharmaceuticals division, Ambassador Hironori had the opportunity to gain insight into the entire production chain and to learn about the manufacturing processes, technical-technological capacities and operating standards. He was also closely introduced to the high level of technological equipment, high standards applied and trained staff managing the processes in the Research and Development Institute.

Given Alkaloid’s main strategic commitment as a company oriented to export and globalization, the Japanese Ambassador’s visit is of particular importance and represents an excellent opportunity for new forms of cooperation between Alkaloid and companies from the Japanese market.
