Employee health and safety is one of Alkaloid’s top priorities

Human resources are among Alkaloid’s top priorities. The company permanently invests and pays significant attention to health and safety at work for each of its more than 2.600 employees. By consistently complying with and strictly adhering to the implemented Occupational Health and Safety ISO 45001 Standard, it ensures the well-being of all employees.

In recognition of its good practices Alkaloid recently received the "Company Investing the Most in OSH for Its Employees" award. The award came on 28 April, the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, at the conference organized jointly by the Macedonian Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the National OSH Council, and the International Labour Organization. At the award ceremony, Kire Icev, Alkaloid’s Director of General Affairs and Management Board Member, said:

"We see this recognition as yet another incentive and commitment to continue to advance in occupational safety and health. We will continue to follow the highest world standards in this area, improve the working conditions in the company, and invest in the safety and health of our employees.”

Every year Alkaloid invests considerable funds in improving the safety of its employees and maintaining a healthy working environment. Examples of such investments are: conducting risk assessment studies, microclimate measurements, working environment testing, employee training, procurement of load handling equipment, new higher capacity electrical installations, personal and collective protective equipment, etc.

Representatives of all relevant state institutions and OSH bodies, such as the National OSH Council, EU-OSHA, the Association of Safety Engineers TUTELA, and other OSH experts’ associations attended the conference. The event began with a minute of silence honouring all workers who lost their lives at work and ended with a tribute to these victims by symbolic tree planting in the nearest park.
