Under the patronage of Alkaloid, the second Festival of Modern Danish Films in this country was officially opened last night at Cinematheque of Macedonia.

His Excellency, the non-resident ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Macedonia in Vienna Torben Brylle and the Honorary Consul General of Denmark Zhivko Mukaetov attended the official ceremony, among other numerous guests.

“I am particularly honored that this event has been hosted in Macedonia for the second time and I sincerely hope that it will turn into a tradition. The film is in a way media through which we can bring close to you pieces of Danish culture, and thereby consolidate our mutual communication”, H.E. Mr. Brylle highlighted.

The Manager of Cinematheque of Macedonia, Ms. Mimi Gjorgoska-Ilieva indicated that this year’s film repertoire within the Modern Danish Film cycle fits any taste, providing all movie-goers, starting with the youngest ones, with an opportunity to watch these days one of the most famous animated film in the Danish industry.

“I honestly hope that in this way we will manage to strengthen the cultural cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and the Kingdom of Denmark, and, of course, we would be very pleased if we had an opportunity in the near future to present part of Macedonian cinematography to Danish audience”, said Ms. Gjorgoska-Ilieva.

His Excellency, Mr. Brylle particularly thanked Alkaloid and its CEO Mr. Mukaetov as well as his family, and also the Cinematheque of Macedonia, which has supported this project for second year now.

Melancholy, by the renowned Danish director Lars von Trier, A Funny Man, directed by Martin Zandlvliet, as well as the animated film Freddy Frogface, by Peter Dodd, will be shown from April 12 to 15 this year within the Modern Danish Film cycle. The popular romantic comedy Superclasico, which officially opened this year’s Danish Film Festival, will be shown on April 15 (Monday).
