NEW CHESS CENTRE OPENED BY ALKALOID

In appreciation of the importance of chess in young children’s development, Alkaloid AD Skopje has equipped a new, modern corner for chess education and tournaments for children as young as 7. The Centre, located in the heart of Skopje, consists of two classrooms where the strongest Macedonian Grandmasters will work with the little ones in groups of up to 20 children.

Making the first move in the simultaneous exhibition with FIDE Master Monika Stojkovska (Macedonian champion for 2022), Mr. Zhivko Mukaetov, CEO and President of the Management Board of Alkaloid, symbolically marked the beginning of the systematic work with the youngest chess talents in the club. Chess coaching within Alkaloid Chess Club (SK Alkaloid) will be conducted by licensed coaches of the World Chess Federation, who are also the strongest Macedonian chess Grandmasters, representatives of the national team, as well as winners of many tournaments and championships both in individual and team competitions. This new Chess Centre, located at ul. Zheleznichka (ul. Jordan Mijalkov) no. 40A in Skopje, will be open not only to the members of SK Alkaloid, but to all chess players and chess lovers, who will have the opportunity for education, socializing with other people and participating in tournaments.

According to the assessment of experts and pedagogues, chess contributes to the development of cognitive skills in young children, improves concentration while studying, improves analytical thinking, problem solving and decision-making, and enables youths to socialize and build team spirit.

Alkaloid Chess Club was founded on March 26, 1976 and is considered to be one of the best European chess clubs. The club has won numerous titles, the most prestigious of which is the gold medal won at the European Chess Club Cup in Novi Sad in 2016.
