Trajche Mukaetov foundation grants 40 new scholarships

‘Trajche Mukaetov’ Foundation, this eighteenth year in a row is granting scholarships for students of the Pharmaceutical Faculty and Medical Faculty at ‘Sts Cyril and Methodius’ University in Skopje.

This year 40 new scholarships have been awarded to 12 students of the Pharmaceutical Faculty and 28 students of the Medical Faculty at ‘Sts Cyril and Methodius’ University in Skopje.

In accordance with the announced public competition, the selection of the scholarship holders for the academic year 2018/2019 has been approved by the Managing Board of the Foundation, following a preliminary list proposed by the members of the Commissions for allocation of scholarships. The Commissions are comprised of representatives of the Foundation, both facultues and students.


Consistent with the programme policies for endorsing young and ambitious undergraduates who have devoted their careers to the Macedonian healthcare and pharmacy, starting from academic year 2009/2010, ‘Trajche Mukaetov’ Foundation has been granting a one-off pecuniary award in the amount of EUR 1,200 (paid in MKD equivalent) to the best in the generation students of Medical Faculty and Pharmaceutical Faculty at UKIM. This year, the one-off pecuniary awards will be granted to Filip Ilievski from the Pharmaceutical Faculty (average grade 9.78) and Marija Todorovska from the Medical Faculty (average grade 9.83), both ‘Trajche Mukaetov” Foundation’s scholarship holders.

‘In line with applying the principles of social responsibility, the company ‘Alkaloid’ and I personally take great pride in the functioning of the Foundation. Stimulating and rewarding young talents, I hope, will serve as additional motivation for delivering even better results and achieving higher goals in the field of Macedonian healthcare and pharmacy in the future. As a company, we are especially proud of the fact that in the past 11 years we have invested more than EUR 1.35 million in providing scholarships for prospective doctors and pharmacists; for 9 years we have donated more than EUR 24,000 for awards to the best in a generation students of the Medical Faculty and the Pharmaceutical Faculty at UKIM, while through our humanitarian events organized under the auspices of the Foundation in the past 8 years we have donated around EUR 115,000’ –said Mr Zhivko Mukaetov, the President of ‘Trajche Mukaetov’ Foundation and CEO of ‘Alkaloid AD Skopje’.

Starting from academic year 2007/08, the Foundation has granted scholarships to a total of 458 students of Pharmacy and Medicine, including the 40 new ones in the academic year 2018/2019. 185 students of Pharmacy and 160 students of Medicine have already graduated. The scholarships will be renewed for the following year on condition that the students meet the terms stipulated in the agreement.

Since 2009 to date, 69 scholarship holders (64 graduates from Pharmaceutical Faculty and 5 from Medical Faculty) have started their career in the departments of the Pharmaceuticals Division of Alkaloid.

The scholarship amounts to MKD 6,500/month for a period of 12 months. The names of the scholarship holders will be published in the printed media and the Executive Office of the Foundation will contact them for signing the scholarship agreement.

Trajche Mukaetov’ Foundation was established by a Decision of the Managing Board of Alkaloid AD Skopje in May 2007. The Foundation’s purpose is to grant scholarships, donations and funds for talented doctors and pharmacists, as well as for providing financial support for projects related to these fields. Recent projects are a proof of realization of the commitments of the Foundation to promote pharmacy,medicine and science, primarily by supporting young, ambitious individuals who have dedicated their careers to these lines of work.
