‘Trajche Mukaetov’ Foundation grants 40 new scholarships

In line with its tradition, this year again, ‘Trajche Mukaetov’ Foundation grants 40 new scholarships for the school year 2014/2015 - 20 for students of the Faculty of Pharmacy and 20 for the students of the Faculty of Medicine at ‘Ss Cyril and Methodius’ University in Skopje.

In accordance with the announced public competition, the selection of the scholarship holders for the school year 2014/2015 has been made by the Managing Board of the Foundation following a preliminary list proposed by the Scholarship Granting Commissions. The Commissions include as members representatives from the Foundation and both faculties, as well as representatives from the students’ community.

The scholarship, in the amount of MKD 6,500, is granted for a period of 12 months. The names of the scholarship holders shall be published in the printed media, upon which the Foundation Executive Office will contact them personally to sign the scholarship agreements.

In line with the programme policies for supporting young and ambitious professionals who have devoted their careers to the Macedonian healthcare and pharmacy, starting from school year 2009/2010, ‘Trajche Mukaetov’ Foundation also grants a one-off pecuniary award amounting to EUR1,200 converted into MKD, to the best students of the generation from the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Pharmacy at ‘Ss Cyril and Methodius’ University. This year, the awards will be given to the students Bisera Stepanovska from the Faculty of Pharmacy, with an average grade 9.98 and Aleksandar Jovanovski from the Faculty of Medicine, with an average grade of 9.93. Bisera Stepanovska, the best student of the generation at the Faculty of Pharmacy, otherwise a ‘Trajche Mukaetov’ Foundation scholarship holder, will start her professional career at ‘Alkaloid AD’ Skopje - Pharmaceuticals as of 1 November 2014.

Ever since the school year 2007/08, the Foundation has granted scholarships to a total of 304 students of pharmacy and medicine, including the new 40 ones for the school year 2014/2015. 103 students from the Faculty of Pharmacy and 72 of the students from the Faculty of Medicine have already graduated. Provided they meet the terms stipulated in the agreement, they will continue receiving the scholarship in the next year, as well. Since 2009 to date, 24 of the Foundation scholarship holders have started their career in the departments of ‘Alkaloid’ Pharmaceuticals.

This year the charity picnic organized for the Alkaloid’s employees under the auspices of ‘Trajche Mukaetov’ Foundation, was held on 27 September 2014. Mr. Zhivko Mukaetov, the President of the Foundation announced that the funds amounting to MKD 725,000, raised by the employees of the company, would be donated to Pediatric Clinic at the ‘Mother Theresa’ Clinical Centre in Skopje.

‘Trajche Mukaetov’ Foundation was established by a Decision taken by the Managing Board of the company ‘Alkaloid AD’ Skopje. The Foundation, whose founder is the Company, is aimed at granting scholarships, donations and funding for talented doctors and pharmacists, as well as providing financial support for projects related to these fields.

Recent projects have confirmed the realization of the guiding principles of the Foundation – to promote the development of pharmacy, medicine and science, primarily through supporting young, ambitious professionals who have devoted their careers to these professional areas.

The Foundation was established in honour of Trajche Mukaetov, who had been elected as the Head of ‘Alkaloid’ AD in 1985. During his term of office, the company was mainly recognized by its intensive growth and development which resulted into promoting it as a leading pharmaceutical company in the region. In the context of the commitment and the permanent development, this great strategist and visionary regarded the increased investments in scientific, research and development activities as a major parameter, since such investments are essential for the desired prosperity.
